Before the 1989 earthquake in SF, I briefly imagined that I was an anti civilization anarchist. Then I had to find my way through a darkened city , with power cables, broken glass and parts of buildings all over the street. Such media as were available at the time, were broadcasting completely crazy estimates of the death toll. They were claiming at least 2,000 dead in SF alone. After crossing the just reopened Golden Gate Bridge, we paused to look back at the city lost in darkness, and I realized, call me a wimp a sellout a traitor to Gaia, I don’t give a shit, Electricity is wonderful. God bless hot water on demand. Still cranky about justice, but a critical supporter of civilization.

Yes! What a saga!
